Namibia

While being a predominately dry country, with its rugged mountains, soft sand dunes, lonely deserts, untamed seascapes and impressive wildlife, Namibia is any photographers dream come true.

There are four main topographical regions within Namibia, namely; The Namib desert, the coastal plains, the Kalahari and the bushveld. This is a country of compelling beauty and wide horizons dominated by the brooding and desolate Namib Desert, which has the highest sand dunes in the world. Other highlights include
watching the sunset over the Fish River Canyon, observing the movement of the wildlife on the never ending plains of Etosha National Park and going dune bashing around the coastal town of Swakopmund.

Etosha National Park and the Namib-Naukluft National Park are two of Namibia's National Parks that are not to be missed. Stretching over 22 270 sq kilometres, Etosha National Parks is on of Africa's largest parks also offering the opportunity to spot a variety of wildlife. The main areas within the Namib-Naukluft Park include Sossusvlei, the lagoon at Sandwich harbour, and the Naukluft Park.

Swakopmund has become the adventure capital of Namibia, while the city of Windhoek is the Capital. Any adventure junkie will be attracted to Swakopmund, whether they want to jump out of a perfectly good plane or try their luck at sand boarding.

Interesting Facts
The Namibian Dollar was introduced in September 1993, and although the South African Rand can be used in Namibia, the Namibian Dollar can't be used in South Africa.
Climate Conditions
Namibia's climate is typical of semi-desert terrain, with hot days and cool nights and an average of 300 days of sunshine per year. Only during the summer months from November to February does rain occur, mostly as heavy thunderstorms. Then the usually dry riverbeds become saturated with torrents of muddy water in a very short time. On all our tours, it's best to bring warm clothing - raincoat, warm hat, socks etc. - as across Africa wet/dry and hot/cool climatic periods change invariably.
